王家田广场位于曼谷市中心，大王宫北侧，面积12万多平方米。广场为椭圆形，四周种有酸角树。王室和政府的重要庆典多在此举行。该广场还是泰国人民-和休息娱乐的场所。

每年5月，国王都在此主持“春耕仪式”。春耕节这一天，泰国王室都要在曼谷旧王宫前的王家田广场主持春耕典礼，庆祝耕种季节的开始，并由婆罗门教的祭司祈求丰收。具体日期由国王选定，仪式由国王主持。事前指派农耕大臣（一般由农业部长担任）组织实施。

仪式主要过程先举行宗教仪式，请高僧颂经、洒水，乞求神灵保佑全年风调雨顺，五谷丰登，并让“神牛”选吃预备好的几种饲料，以预测天气和收成。接着由农耕大臣率农耕队进入广场，队伍中，农耕大臣牵着“神牛”，随从扛着犁，四名“玉女”挑着御赐种子（泰国人叫“金担”、“银担”）。农耕大臣象征性地犁田结束后，即将“御种”撒入田中，然后洒水，以示浇田。至此仪式全部结束，随后观礼的群众即蜂涌进入广场，争拾“御种”，带回家与自家的种子混合后撒入田中，期待年底获得更好收成。“春耕仪式”历时2小时，仪式隆重，气氛热烈，吸引众多游人观看。

王家田广场还举行过纪念普密蓬国王与诗丽吉王后结婚五十五周年的一些活动。每年夏天这里还会举行大型的风筝比赛。
